Point of information. Rome did not fall when it was sacked by Barbarians in the 5th century. Rather by the time the Barbarians arrived en masse the Empire had been declining for well over a century or more. The society no longer had the vitality necessary to maintain a strong defense so the Barbarians basically just walked in.

The humanist message needs editing: keep up the critiques of religion, especially as practiced by the MAGA death-cult types, and promote humanism by contrasting sadism, hate and death to the joys of love and life for its own sake. Humanists could improve their social skills a lot, too, by reaching out and creating events that bring people together. Be the Happy Humanist but keep your powder dry because they are coming for us.

How would you critique the religion of MLK Jr.? Ghandi? Seems to me that a lot of Progress has been powered by religious people.

In some cases, yes, religious people using the structure of religion to push a purely humanistic agenda, using religion metaphorically, which "religious humanists" do.

John, you’ve just described modernist religion. This post is about the end of modernity at the hands of anti-modernists. Full circle. Hence my request for new ideas, not old ones.

There aren't any new ideas except new ways of presenting the older, better, ones. Other than that, I think you're going to have to wait at least tens of thousands or more years for human beings to evolve, if we last that long. Can we change our fundamental being before we blow each other up or cook ourselves to death? I'm no expert, but I don't know of any species that as a whole has ever consciously and methodically changed its evolutionary course for the better. But we are soooo good at self-destruction. Meanwhile, "smash your bottle on the gravestone and live while you can" seems to be the best we've come up with as a collective.

If any species could change its trajectory, it would be one that is capable of conscious and methodical action. But it sounds like you don’t believe Progress is real.

Looking at the overall picture, I would say it waxes and wanes. An example, we have vaccines that have saved millions of lives, but now we're rejecting vaccines and losing millions of lives. We've made great advances in energy technology but now it's killing us in many ways and threatens to annihilate us. And, we are consciously doing this to ourselves (as a group), an action plan that seems to be unique to humans among species capable of thoughtful action. Unfortunately for the others, we will take many of them into the abyss with us through our practices.

Kinda like you seem to be using the cult of climate alarmism and elitism to push a trans humanist agenda? Or is it (d)ifferent when your team does it?

Do you mean a transexual humanist agenda? Because that could be offensive. Maybe you meant transgender humanist agenda, which is the preferred word usage. Or did you mean a transitive humanist agenda, as in algebra? Or did you mean a transitional humanist agenda? Or were you talking about a mass transit humanist agenda? Please clarify.

I meant what I said. You’re probably in the gender cult too though so I guess the transgender thing works too.
